SEPTA
|

|
The Somers Special Education PTA (SEPTA) is
a network of parents, educators and interested parties who recognize and
support challenges in parenting and educating children with different
learning styles. SEPTA is a district-wide PTA which
supports all four schools, pre-schools and community members.
SEPTA is a unit of the Somers PTA Council. |
|

|
SEPTA's goal is to serve as a
resource for parents and faculty, as well as offer support for special
education children. Special education includes gifted & talented
students, students with a disability and twice exceptional
students (gifted students who also have a disability). We
strive to create a community that values and respects each student's
learning abilities and to ensure that all children receive an education
that allows them to reach their full potential.
|
|

|
SEPTA's events are beneficial
to ALL Somers families. Popular speakers have included
Joel Haber, the Bullying Coach; Rachel's Challenge; Sheryl Frishman,
parent advocate and President ARC; and Dr. Aleta Koman, parenting
expert, author and NBC parenting correspondent. |
