Welcome!
The Somers PTA Council is comprised of the
following PTA Units:
*Primrose PTA
*Somers Intermediate School PTA
*Somers Middle School PTA
*Somers High School PTSA (students can join)
*Somers SEPTA (Special Education PTA, a unit organized
for those interested in the issues of educating gifted
or special needs children).
The PTA is a not-for-profit, educational
organization seeking to unite home, school, and
community on behalf of our children. We work closely
with school administrators, teachers, and staff.
However, each PTA unit is an independent,
self-governing, private organization; we are not part of
the Somers Central School District.
Council’s role is fundamentally to
inform, instruct, and inspire our PTA units. Through
Council, units have an opportunity to compare methods
and projects, share experiences, and collaborate with
other community organizations on issues involving our
children. We believe that the real working capitol of a
PTA lies not in its treasury, but in its members, in
their energy, their resourcefulness, and their
determination to advance the well being of our children.
Anyone can join the PTA. There is no
requirement that a member must have children in school.
I invite each of you to join the PTA in being the voice
of our children.
“Each of you is the PTA–it will be as
powerful and strong as you make it.”
Elaine

Sincerely,
Judi Callan, President
I would like to personally welcome
you to the wonderful and dynamic PTA that helps to
improve the education and lives of our children.
My previous volunteer service in
the Somers Community includes soccer coach, Boy Scout
Leader, Girl Scout assistant leader, and a few roles
within PTA. I am pleased and proud to serve the Somers
community in this role.
There has never been a better time
to support PTA than right now.
In Somers we have five separate
PTAs, including one for each school building and SEPTA,
which focuses on the special needs of gifted and special
education students and their families.
Please provide support and
membership to all of the PTAs. Your small contribution
gets pushed back into the community by more than 250
highly motivated volunteers.
Each week I am humbled by the
outstanding time, effort, thoughtfulness, and energy
that is provided by the PTA in so many ways.
My role at PTA is to help
coordinate the communication and activities among the
PTA units, the school administration, and the community.
If you feel that I can be helpful
in any way, or if you just need a little guidance to get
or stay more involved for the benefit of your children,
please feel free to reach out to me personally. I will
do my best to help guide things in the best way
possible.
Thank you for your support,
Lex Kessler
Somers PTA Council President
